INTERNATIONAL EXAMINATIONS

At abbeySCHOOL CiaoItaly, it is possible to attend preparatory courses for the CILS exams, run by the Siena University for Foreigners, and for the CELI exams, run by the Perugia University for Foreigners.
They are officially recognised qualifications that certify the holder's level of communicative skills in Italian as a foreign language. The exam may be taken by any foreign student who intends to certify his/her command of the Italian language for study and/or work reasons.

In 2013, the school became an authorised exam centre of the Accademia Italiana di Lingua (AIL) and is qualified to organise «Firenze» exams, which are held either twice or four times a year on the same day in the various authorised exam centres throughout the world.

Based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, proposed by the European Council, these exams foresee the certification of various levels of ability in the Italian language through the testing of listening and reading skills and the analysis of communicative structures in written and oral production.

The European Reference Framework has established the general standards for European Union language skills, dividing them into three levels: basic speaker, independent speaker and proficient speaker. Each of these levels comprises two sub-levels as indicated in the following table. At each sub-level, students will:
