1 Conditions of enrolment
  • a The minimum age for enrolment is 18. Younger students are only accepted if accompanied by their parents or by someone acting on their behalf.
  • b In the event that two or more participants are related, a 5% discount will be applied starting from the second enrolment.
  • c The parents or legal guardians of minors must release upon enrolment an address where they can always be contacted in the event that it is necessary to consult them before taking a certain decision. In the event that this requirement is not fulfilled, or that the parents or legal guardians cannot be contacted, all decisions taken by the school will be deemed valid. The parents or legal guardians will also be required to reimburse the school for any expenditure incurred by the implementation of the aforementioned decisions.
  • d Group courses are held in classes composed of a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 12 students. The school may make up the numbers of those classes where there are fewer students than the maximum by adding students of the same level. The school reserves the right to cancel any course, modify its timetable, change its prices and/or alter the total number of hours, providing alternative solutions to its clients should the minimum number of participants not be reached. This means that, in the event that the minimum number of participants is not reached, the course will be transformed into an individual, semi-individual or a mini-group course consisting of a lower number of hours and corresponding to the commercial value of the group course for which the students had originally enrolled.
  • e The school reserves the right to replace the teacher with another equally qualified teacher for organisational reasons, and to join two courses together should they not have the minimum number of students.
  • f With the aim of forming classes of a homogeneous level, each student must either take a preliminary test or agree to a free trial lesson before being added to a level which corresponds to his or her own linguistic skills. In the event that the student's progress is not deemed to be in line with the rest of the class, the school reserves the right to move the student to another class which is more compatible with his/her rate of learning.
  • g The student must meticulously abide by all Covid-19 anti-infection procedures put in place by the school (Mod.M112A)
  • h In the event of force majeure [see infra, art. 6.a sub iii)], as an alternative to classroom learning (on-site delivery), the school reserves the right to change the way in which the service is provided by implementing distance learning (online delivery).
2 Online lessons
  • a It is the student’s responsibility to ensure that s/he has access to the requisite hardware, software and telecommunications services in order to access the online service. Any associated charges, including those of internet service providers, are also the student’s responsibility.
  • b Given that the online service will be provided via a third party web browser (such as Internet Explorer, Chrome and Firefox), it will also be necessary for the user to read the applicable conditions of use and privacy statement for the browser used. The school remains the owner/licensee of all intellectual property rights of the online service and of the design, structure, “graphic appearance” and layout of the service offered online.
  • c The school will make all reasonable efforts to make the online service available on the date and time agreed on the booking confirmation and according to the programme running at the time of the booking. However, given the nature of the connection, the school neither guarantees, nor can it guarantee nor ensure, that use of the remote service will be uninterrupted and free from errors. The school cannot be held responsible for possible delays or malfunctions in the delivery of the service or any other loss or damage arising from the transfer of data on networks and communications services, including the internet. Upon accepting these conditions, the student, or his/her guardian if the student is under 18 years of age, acknowledges that the online service could be subject to limitations, delays and other problems arising from the use of such communications services.
3 Modality of enrolment
  • a The enrolment demands a registration fee of € 80.00. Such a fee includes the administrative expenses of the course and the teaching material. In the event that the student drops out of school, there is no refund of the above-mentioned registration fee.
  • b
    • Regarding enrolment, it is necessary to send the application form filled in in its entirety and the payment receipt of 50% of the total cost of the course plus the registration fee (€ 80.00). The payment can be made in cash or by means of credit transfer to the current IBAN: IT39 C030 6901 0041 0000 0074 572  - BIC: BCITITMM payable to CIAOITALY – LEARN ITALIAN IN ITALY SRL c/o INTESA SANPAOLO - Agenzia 504 - Corso Peschiera, 151 - 10141 TORINO.
The payment must be effected within 7 days before the beginning of the course. For the admission to the course the student needs to show a receipt of the payment. If the payment is not effected within the fixed terms, the school has the power to cancel the contract for default, with the right to keep the sum of money already paid and also to claim residual credit.
  • c The foreign students who ask for a student visa must contact the Italian Embassy in their countries before performing all bureaucratic procedures. The certificate of enrolment issued by the school is one of the conditions of obtaining the visa. In order to receive the above-mentioned certificate the student must pay in advance all the necessary costs. In the event that the embassy rejects the visa application, 90% of the amount paid will be refunded, while the individual student or agent will be charged only for the following expenses: €80.00 for the enrolment fee and €150.00 of administrative costs.
4 Lesson schedules and duration
  • a Lessons are normally held from Monday to Friday. The school will be closed on the following days: 1st January, 6th January, 25th April, 1st May, 2nd June, 24th June, 15th August, 1st November, 8th, 25th and 26th December. No refunds or extra lessons are foreseen for hours lost due to national holidays.
  • b Lesson hours are equal to 45 minutes.
  • c Group courses start every Monday, apart from those for complete beginners, which will begin on the first Monday of the month.
5 Conditions of reimbursement and renouncement
  • a Any renouncement must be sent to the school in written form, by telegram, registered post, fax or e-mail stating the reason for such a decision and any relevant documentation. No other form of communication can be accepted.
  • b In the event of renouncement, the participant will incur the following penalties calculated with reference to total cost of the course:
    • b.1 at least 30 days' notice from the beginning of the course: no penalty, full refund excluding banking fees and the registration fee.
    • b.2 Cancellation between 29 and 15 days from the beginning of the course: penalty of 50% of the total amount paid, plus the registration fee and banking fees.
    • b.3 No refund is foreseen for cancellations made 14 days or less before the beginning of the course.
  • c No refunds are foreseen in the event of absence, lateness or withdrawal from the course after it has started. Students attending individual courses, in the event that they are unable to attend the lessons they have arranged, must inform the school at least 24 hours before the lesson was to have taken place in order to postpone it. Otherwise the lesson will be charged to the student.
6 Cancellation by the school
  • a a) The school can withdraw at any moment, without any responsibility to the student, in the event that:
    i) the student does not pay the fees due for all preselected courses, as required by the payment terms referred to in art. 3 and detailed above;
    ii) the student behaves in a way which is incompatible with the full compliance of one or more of the provisions contained in these Conditions;
iii) the school is unable to fully deliver the preselected course for reasons of force majeure (including but not limited to unexpectedly adverse weather conditions, infectious diseases and pandemics) or for any reason outside of the school’s own reasonable control.
  • b In the eventuality of art. 6.a sub i) and ii), the school will be free to settle all financial arrangements with the student and will have the right to retain (or receive the balance of, as the case may be) the applicable fee in full. In the eventuality of art. 6.1 sub iii), the school will not be responsible for any costs incurred by or on behalf of the student subsequent to the reasons indicated above. The school should communicate the cancellation of each preselected course to the student - within 15 days from notification of cancellation - and discuss the student’s options. These are: a) in the event the originally selected course was onsite the option to begin a similar course online; b) in all circumstances, to use the fees paid for a later booking to be undertaken within a year.
7 Travel and accommodation contract
  • a The school assumes no responsibility for any damages that the participants or anything in their possession may be subjected to during their journey or their stay in Italy. Neither is the school responsible for any irregularities, delays, transport problems or extra expenditure made necessary by illness, quarantine, wars, strikes, etc.
  • b The school, in searching for accommodation for students, acts only as an intermediary between the landlord and the student, and accepts no responsibility regarding the relationship between the two parties.
8 Rules of behaviour
  • a The use of mobile phones, the consumption of food and drink and smoking are all prohibited in the classrooms. Students are also kindly requested not to linger in the entrance hall or on the stairs of the building so as not to disturb residents.
  • b Students attending group courses must not disturb other participants during their presence at the school. Those who do not observe this rule will be removed from the class and will not be entitled to a refund.
  • c Students must take care of the materials made available to them by the school, and they will be required to reimburse the school for any damage they cause to the school and its contents. In the event that reimbursement is not forthcoming, the school reserves the right to remove those responsible from their course without refund as compensation.
  • d Students must meticulously comply with all Covid-19 anti-infection procedures put in place by the school in order to avoid exclusion without reimbursement by the organisation.
9 Health Insurance
Students are not automatically covered by health insurance in the event of illness or injury. It is recommended that they take out a health insurance policy. Citizens of the European Union have the right to free medical treatment in Italy provided that they are in possession of the European Health Insurance Card, which can be obtained from the health service in their own country before they leave for Italy. Students from outside the European Union must verify with the authorities in their country whether or not insurance cover exists for the duration of their stay in Italy. If it does not, they should take out a health insurance policy themselves. No insurance cover is provided for any damage, injury or accidents which take place outside the school.
10 Photos and video footage
The school reserves the right to use photos and video footage taken during lessons or leisure activities in order to illustrate its promotional material. If any student does not wish to give his/her consent to the publication of this material, he or she must write to the school within one month of the photo or video footage being taken. This material does not have commercial or contractual value and the school expressly guarantees its use in contexts which do not compromise the personal dignity and decency of the person concerned.
11 Jurisdiction
The Court of Turin shall have jurisdiction over any disputes or litigation.
